Why Temitope Balogun Joshua refused to appear in court

    By Emmanuel Udom

Temitope Balogun Joshua is a prophet. He is a Christian, who strives to practice what he preaches. Spiritual, mysterious, generous, unpredictable, and a doer -of –the- words are some of the words that could strike a person that has been following Joshua and his sermons.

He is the founder of The Synagogue Church of All Nations, located in Ikotun area of Lagos in Nigeria. But, he is presently passing through tumultuous times. Even this shall pass away.

At this point, friends and foes of the man in the synagogue should take time out to contemplate and reflect on some of these words: tumultuous times, trials, prayers, justice, compensations, fairness, faire-play, God, humanity, Nigeria, South Africa, etc.

No man or woman, born of a woman can escape challenges or what some choose to call the many problems of life. Good, bad, tragic, or whatever, karma has a way of paying us back in our own coins either in this life or the next.

Recall that September this year, a multi-purpose building owned by his church collapsed in mysterious and at the end of the day, more than 116 persons, mostly from South Africa perished.

But, as at Wednesday this week, Joshua is yet to appear at the Ikeja High court in Lagos, Nigeria to tell the world his own version of the story.

Yes, he issued a press statement immediately after the tragic incident, telling people who care to listen that it was a controlled demolition, in which he was the target.

Olalekan Ojo, his counsel told the court that Joshua could not appear in person, because he was yet to be served the summon by the court bailiff. It may be correct, it may be wrong. But the legal battle continues until truth prevails.

Prayer is good. It is communication with God. But, the truth, which some of you my dear may not agree is that prayer does not solve any problem. When we talk to God through prayers, God will use people, events, situations, and places to answer our prayers.

Sure, some pastors out there may be calling for my after reading this piece.  This is my opinion, please feel free to disagree.

Joshua is passing through trial times now. It could happen to anybody. I am never met Joshua one-on-one, but I know deep down he is pass through this tumultuous times wiser, stronger and more humanitarian. Joshua go and face the court.
