The Crime Reporters
Association of Nigeria (CRAN), a beat association in the vanguard of
collaborating with security agencies and corporate organizations in fighting
crime and corruption in the nation will on Thursday, November 24, 2016,
hold its annual event/lecture series.
Billed to grace the
occasion are the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris; Comptroller
General of Nigeria Immigration Service, Muhammadu Babandede; Governors of
Lagos, Anambra and Benue States, Akinwunmi Ambode, Chief Willie Obiano and Mr.
Samuel Ortom, respectively.
The event, which is in
its 23rd year, is targeted at 'Solving security challenges through
intelligence' and is a veritable platform where stakeholders meet and
discuss topical national security issues and their recommendations have been
receiving serious attention from relevant authorities.
The conference is billed
to hold at Sheba Event Center, Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way, by Sheraton Hotel,
Kingsway Bus Stop, Ikeja, Lagos.
Dubbed the biggest
intelligence conference in Nigeria, the event will afford CRAN the opportunity
to bring governors, law enforcement agencies, private security moguls, clergy
and businessmen together to rub minds together.
Others include police
chiefs, military and paramilitary brass, frontline politicians and other
eminent Nigerians, including the Oluwo of Iwo Land, HRM Oba Abdul-Rasheed
Akanbi, who is the royal father of the day.
While the event will be
chaired by Mr. Ubong King, the CEO Protection Plus Services Limited, the guest
lecturer is the Dr. Bone Efoziem, the CEO/MD Strict Guards Security Company
Limited, who is expected to share his rich wealth of experience in security and
intelligence gathering.
Also, the lecture series
will dovetail to the award ceremony, where individuals, governors and corporate
organisations, who have exceptionally distinguished themselves in their various
fields of human endeavours will be honoured, like several others who were
honoured in previous editions.
A statement signed by
the award committee chairperson, Chiemelie Ezeobi said the event will be an
avenue to gain knowledge, as well as serve as an avenue for participants to
network with security agencies , private security entrepreneurs, general sector
players and security journalists.
She said, "This
year's topic, solving security challenges through intelligence is apt."
The event is supported
by the Nigeria Police, Nigeria Immigration Service, NDLEA, Nigeria
Prisons Service, ASIS, EFCC.
Others include, Lagos
State Government, Anambra State Government, Benue State Government, Angels
Guard Security, Protection Plus Services, Strict Guard Security, Halogen
Security.
Also supporting the
conference are Fidelity Bank, Eco Bank, First Bank, Zenith Bank, Access Bank,
Dangote Cement and Union Bank.
