Small business owners in Nigeria will soon have cause to smile.
This is because the National Pension Commission (PENCOM) is
planning a pension scheme for small business owners across the federation.
Dr. Farouk Aminu, head, corporate strategy & research
department of the commission dropped this hint Thursday in Abuja, north-central
Nigeria.
According to him, the objective of the pension scheme is to get
the people in the informal sector covered by the pension system.
He mentioned bean cake (akara) sellers, tailors, mechanics,
vulcanizers and artists as persons in the informal sector that would be covered
in the new pension scheme.
