Police prosecutor, Inspector Gabriel Ekundayo, told the
court that the securityman, Yahaya Adamu, who is resident at No. 24, Tafawa
Balewa Street Surulere, Lagos, allegedly committed the offence on February 13,
this year.
According to Ekundayo, the complainant, identified as Ayo
Akinwumi, a resident of No 31, Jebba Street, Ebute Meta, Lagos, reported the
matter to the police.
His words: One John, a staff of Orchard Hotel and Lodge,
Lagos, now at large, allegedly connived with Adamu to steal the property, which
comprises: generator parts, turbo
charger, oil pump, charging alternator, kick starter piston and con rod, all
valued at N358, 000.
However, Ekundayo told the court that Adamu confessed
that he did not steal any of the mentioned property, except one condemned iron,
valued at N2, 000.
But, the police prosecutor argued that the offence
contravened Section 285(7) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011, even as Mrs
M.I. Dan-Oni, the Chief Magistrate of the court adjourned the case till March 7,
this year for facts and sentencing.
