Christmas is a period for celebrations. It comes once a year. To some of us, it is time for
stock-taking, for sober reflections, for re-strategizing and for deep meditation.
To others, it
is time for faaji, as the Yorubas will call it. Endless partying, dining
and winning. Whichever side of the divide you, my beloved friends belong, it is okay when
it is done in
moderation.
Jesus the
Christ was not born on Christmas day. This is my stand and you are free to call
for my head and call me all sorts of names.
But, as I write
this piece, some key words that come to my mind as people are preparing for Christmas and new year celebrations
are- gifts, love,
sharing, merriment, joy, peace, progress, partying, visits, travelling,
spending, relaxing, sleep, faaji, etc.
I am cock sure,
you my dear friends could add more to these positive key words.
But, let us look at the other
side of the same coin. Words like- tensions, accidents, insecurity, crimes,
restiveness, reckless, extravagant, show-off, misunderstanding, etc, are also some of
the negative key words that are linked to these annual celebrations.
These positive
and negative key words are not really limited to Christmas and New Year alone.
They are all time
stuffs.
Whether or not you do not think Jesus the Christ was born December 25, it does not matter. May the good Lord and the cosmic masters continue to guide,
inspire and protect
humanity during this
period of abundant out pouring of love and affection, Amen.
Yes, it is
expected that God and the cosmic masters will protect us
as we celebrate. But, moderation in thoughts, words and deeds should be our watchword, or else we will be dead broke, sick or out-rightly drop dead before the New Year.
I am not wishing my beloved friends bad; I am simply being realistic and frank. When we pray for life, we should also take
insurance policy or something else to prepare for death, for it will
certainly come, one day.
Pastors, imams, mystic s are first and foremost
human beings and will
certainly die one day, despite series of prayers. I wish
you all well. I wish Nigeria well. I wish the world well.
