Something that
caught my attention occurred Thursday this week around Abule Egba, Lagos,
south-west Nigeria.
I was really
tired and needed to relax after spending hours tracking crime and other stories
for Daily Independent newspaper, whore I work full-time.
Out of the blues,
some members of a church in the locality, who claimed to be born again Christians,
gathered for a film show.
While the
show lasted, these born again Christians were busy praying, binding the devil
and breaking down blood and general causes and covenants.
These Christians insisted that the devil
has stolen all what God destined for them. Well to some gullible and fanatical Christians
out there, it is a fantastic prayer.
But, to right thinking, non
sentimental and rational Christians, there is the immutable law of sowing and
reaping.
This law,
which cannot be bribed, cajoled or wish away, is thoroughly explained in the
bible and other sacred books.
I am a Christian,
but I also know that what I sow today, I reap tomorrow, devil or no devil. Man is
his own devil, man is his own God. When I say man, I am also referring to a
woman.
Thought
What we hold
in our minds for long, good or bad could eventually manifest in our individual lives.
So, if we want to experienced heaven on earth in our lives, finances, career,
family, spirituality etc, we should individually strive to think good through,
for it will come to pass with interest either in this life time or the next.
Words
The bible
says from the abundant of the heart, the mouth speaks. The same bible also says
the power of life and dead is in the tongue. Therefore, instead of blaming imaginary
devil for our self-created misfortunes and beat our chest when the going is good
or fortunate, we should watch our thought and words.
Deeds
There is a
clear and direct relationship between our thought, word and deed. The devil has
not power to disrupt this relationship except you allow it.
Instead of believing
that your pastor, a fellow human being like you is your god, train yourself to
always go inwards for inspiration, for guidance, for advice and for direction,
when you run into trouble waters.
The so-called
problems of challenges we go through daily, in most cases, we attract them to
ourselves. But, while some blame the devil, other face their problems, solve
them and grow in wisdom and understanding. I rest my case for now.
