A 10-year-old girl was on
Saturday, November 5, 2016 rescued by Police operatives in Oyo State from where
her father locked her up for days without food.
The
man had taken to his heels and is nowhere to be found as at the time if filing
this report, even though the police have launched a manhunt to apprehend him.
Addressing
journalists shortly after the rescue, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP
Adekunle Ajisebutu, said the victim was allegedly locked up in a room for three
days until some officials from the Challenge Police Station came to her rescue.
He
said: “The police had acted on a tip-off
from neighbours. The police responded swiftly and visited the house at Ajeigbe
area, Ring Road, Ibadan.
“On
arrival at the scene, it was discovered that three padlocks were used to lock
the room. The locks had to be broken by the police before the little girl could
be rescued."
Ajisebutu
further stated that the victim had been properly fed and taken to the police
clinic for medical attention.
