As speculated, the Police
Service Commission, (PSC), Friday retired 21 assistant inspectors-general of
police, (AIGs), in what some security sources said is the first step in the
game-plan to re-structure the police
Mbu Joseph Mbu; Bala Hassan; Kalafite Adeyemi; and Johnson Ogunsakin, were
among the 21 AIGs retired.
A statement by the spokesman of the Commission, Ikechukwu Ani, the AIGs were retired because they are senior in standing to the recently appointed acting inspector-general of police, Ibrahim Idris.
His words: “The Police
Service Commission has approved the retirement of 21 Assistant Inspectors
General of Police who were senior to the new acting Inspector General of
Police, Idris Ibrahim, before his appointment.”
PSC chairman, Mike Okiro, wished the affected
officers well in their future endeavours.
