A 30 year old mother of four Mrs. Pamela Chukwu-Nnamani whose estranged husband Mr. Samson Chukwu-Nnamani had alleged abducted their children and was subsequently arrested, detained and tortured by Policemen on the order of her husband, has sued the Nigeria Police for five hundred million naira.

In a sworn affidavit deposed to at the Magistrate Court Holden at Ikeja in Lagos Mrs. Pamela said, she was suing the Police to enforce her fundamental human rights which was breached.

She said that prior to the rift between herself and her husband; they had lived as a family on No.10, Ajali drive, Independent layout Enugu in Enugu State.
She averred that sometime in 2013, and to her consternation, she observed that her estranged husband suddenly began to get into fits of anger at the slightest provocation, and that whenever he is in that state, he descend heavily on her  beating her blue black.

It was when she noticed that all entreaties from family members, friends and close associates could not dissuade her husband from brutalizing her and possibly snuff life out of her that she ran for her dear life and relocated to Lagos.

Speaking further, she said her hope of a safe haven in Lagos was however shattered on the 5th of January, 2016 when her husband armed with a pistol and in company of five equally armed mobile policemen as well as another four heavily armed thugs, and two police officer Inspector Chijioke and Detective Obi who are attached to the Enugu State Kidnapping Squad broke into her residence.

Her husband she said, ordered the thugs to descend on her, her mother and the children, and that while this was going on, she expected the Police officer to have rescued them but that she was shell shocked that the Police officer merely stood akimbo, while the father of her kids gleefully expressed his satisfaction, even as he still barked instruction at the top of his voice, that they should rape her.

The thugs on hearing their master’s instruction tore her pants and fondled with her private part with their fingers a development, she said  prompted her mother to shout for help from neighbors as she made good her  escape with the children.

She further revealed that her husband on noticing that her mother  had left the house with the children, dashed out of the house in pursuit holding the pistol menacingly and when he could not catch up with her, he came back to the house more incensed and with the assistance of the police officers dragged her into a waiting car outside and when they drove to a spot some meters from her home which is  just behind the premises of Nigeria Law School in Victoria Island.

They pulled over and brought her out of the car and wrestle her to  the ground,  pinned her down threatening  to kill her if she fails to tell them where her mother took the children to.

While this assault was going, she heard her husband yelling at the Police officers “I have paid your officer-in-charge, Mr. Akinolu Alex for this job, I promised him more money,  you people should do the job, I paid your policemen money, rape her, all I want are my children”

Spurred by the command, she said, Inspector Chijioke and Obi proceeded to inflict unimaginable pain on her, beat her with horse whip and intermittently smack her with the butt of their gun after which she was forcefully taken to the Anti Kidnapping Squad office in Enugu.

On the 7th of January 2016, she was brought before the officer-in –charge Anti-Kidnapping Squad Mr. Akinolu Alex with blood stains as a result of the beating she received from the thugs and the policemen. If she had expected Akinolu to sympathize with her, she was dead wrong as Akinolu ordered his men to detain her in a male cell where she was further harassed and molested by the male occupants of the cell.

“At intervals detective Obi will bring  me out from the cell into his office and with a teaser torture me until I pass out and he will revive me and continue the act until he is thoroughly satisfied” she said in an emotion laden voice.

On the 8th of January 2016, she was called upon and informed that she was to appear before Alex Akinolu, the officer-in-charge of Anti-Kidnapping squad in Enugu and that as they approached the officer’s office, she the voice of two men engaged in a shouting match.

She was to learn later that the shouting match was that the Police after receiving such amount from her husband to eliminate failed to carry out his biddings and so if they filed to kill her before the close of the they should be prepared to refund his money. She was thereafter returned to the cell but not after she was given another dose of beating.

She had barely settle down, when they came for her again, this time she was going to meet the Deputy Commissioner of Police Oyekunle and just like the previous meeting she had in the office of Akinolu, she met her husband and Akinolu there. Oyekunle it was who asked her to narrate her own side of the story after he had heard that of her husband. Oyekunle on hearing her side blamed Akinolu for not briefing him as demanded by Police statute and consequently ordered that she be released.

Rather than released her, on the 9th  January 20th 2016  Akinolu in conjunction with his benefactor Samson Chukwu-Nnamani , brought  her to Lagos apparently to compel her to hand over the children to them.
Worried by the unruly behavior of her husband, and the unprofessional attitude of Akinolu Alex a Chief Superintendent of Police and the officer –in –charge Anti-Kidnapping Squad Enugu Police Command, her mother briefed  the office of Stephen and Solomon Foundation an NGO that offers legal briefs for indigent persons behind Prison walls, who contacted the Nigeria Police Force Complaint Response Unit which promptly initiated an investigation into the matter and caused her to be released on bail at about 2.00am on the 11th January 2011.

At the office of Stephen and Solomon Foundation, the founder Chief A.G. Giwa-Amu said I am requesting that the police should cause a detailed investigation into the matter and the culprit brought to Justice.
