    Do not throw fireworks during xmas,, new year celebrations, Lagos police warns residents



     
    The use of bangers, firework in celebrating Christmas and Street party during yelutide period have been banned in Lagos State, as Police threatened to deal decisively with anyone caught in the act.


    Speaking at the Community Security meeting in Lagos Island, organised by the Joint Community Development Associations (CDAs) at Ward B3, the Area ‘A’ Police Commander, ACP Salman Dogo said that the Police in Lagos state is not happy with the way youths forment trouble during street party where people were stabbed indiscriminately, leading to death.


    Dogo, who was represented by his 2i/c in office, Woman CSP, Olayiwola S. Adenike lamented that the menace of youths killing each other and other innocent people while attacking themselves over minnor issues and reprisal attacks, using street parties to settle score have become things of worry to the Lagos Police Command.


    “We are appealing to you parents and youths to desist from this act and anyone who wants to do party should henceforth go to event centre and if there is need to do the open party, they should get appropriate approval from police or relevant agencies before doing it. Failure will warrant the police intervention and all people involved will be arrested and prosecuted”.


    Corroborating the Police Boss, the Divisional Police officer (DPO), Adeniji Adele Police Station, SP Ayodele Umutose assured of prompt response to distress calls over illegal street party and the use of firework and bangers by people.


    He implored youths to desist from all criminal activities that will make them become criminals, warning that he will not hesitate to arrest and prosecute anyone that forment trouble in his juridiction.


    The CDC chairman, Lagos Island Local Government, Alhaji Maliq commended the CDAs in the area who have been monitoring their juridictions very well and always upright in tackling any unforeseen trouble.


    He also advised youths in the area and Lagos Island local Government in general to do away with criminal activities.


    Apart from large crowd that attended the occasion, degnitaries that graced the gathering includes, the Area ‘A’ Operation officer, ASP Rasak Aremu, one of the Leaders in the area, Alhaji Lateef Ariyo aka ‘JERRY’, Councillor Ibrahim Dawodu, Alhaji Mufutau Salami and members of the all CDAs executives in the area.
