Valuable investments in mega-slums in Lagos

    By Emmanuel Udom
The word investment is loaded. It is about putting your hard earned money on a project with the mind of reaping bountiful returns with time.
Let us look at Lagos, the former capital of Nigeria, whose unconfirmed population is about 18million people and still counting. It is a multi-ethnic, commercial state.

Abuja may look like heaven on earth, but in terms of population, which has a relationship with the forces of demand and supply; Lagos is still the place to be.  Take it or leave it my friend.

Some persons across various villages in Nigeria think Lagos is another America or London in Nigeria, where the streets are paved with gold. Those of us living and doing business in Lagos, know that there are some streets in the state that are littered with warts.

Yes, there are mega areas like Lekki, Victoria Island, Ikoyi and others, where the high and mighty in our Society either live or run their businesses.

Truth is that these so-called mega areas where ones slums like parts of Alimosho, Epe, Ijora- Olopa, Mushin, etc.
Why all these boring preambles? Well, yesterday, I visited one of the foremost private security consultants in Nigeria on a business meeting. In addition to owing a flourishing security company, he has investments in real estate, maritime, farming, banking and other sectors.
I met the man with another of my business partner, Olabode Oruku, an online consultant and sole owner of www.nigeriawebsuccess.com and at the end of the meeting, the security consultant agreed to partner with us, to market online his many businesses on agreed percentage commission.
Therefore, investors interested in buying plots of land around the Epe-Ijebu Ode and Lagos-Ibadan expressway for the building of their personal houses, factories, companies, or for farming should contact us.
There are more than 90 hectares of land along these two emerging mega areas, up for grab by interested buyers.

Why I call these areas emerging mega cities? Off course you and I know that Babatunde Raji Fashola, a senior advocate of Nigeria and present governor of Lagos state is dreaming of transforming the Epe-Ijebu Ode axis as well as Badagry to free trade zones.

Transformation is the watchword in Nigeria today and with this dream slowly, but surely becoming a reality, it is just a matter of time for an airport to be constructed around these free trade zones.

So, if you buy a plot of land from the security consultant for N350, 000- N400, 000 this year, it is most likely that in the next five to ten years, you will sell that same land for more than a million naira per plot.
Do not ask a journalist-cum-online content writer like me. Ask any professional in real estate business around you. In the next 10 to 20 years, areas like Akute, Epe, Egan, Badagry, Alagbado and other so-called slums will become mega areas. Reflect on this, my brother, my sister.
