An
opinion poll conducted by the Punch newspaper has predicted victory for the All
Progressives Congress, APC, Governorship candidate, Rotimi Akeredolu in
Saturday’s gubernatorial election in Ondo State.
The election which holds Saturday has three main contending
candidates who are Akeredolu of the APC, Eyitayo Jegede, the PDP governorship
candidate and Olusola Oke, the Alliance for Democracy, AD governorship
candidate.
The Punch poll on its website simply asked: “Ondo Election: Who
will become the next Governor?”
As at 11:40pm on
Friday, the result of the poll showed that Akeredolu, out of the 3,194 people
who voted, polled 1,296 votes, to emerge likely winner of Saturday’s election
while the AD candidate, Oke polled 1,115 votes to emerge second in the poll and
the PDP candidate, Jegede polled 783 votes to emerge third.
The poll showed that Akeredolu received 41 percent of the total
votes; Oke, 35 percent and Jegede, 25 percent.
