Officials of the Federal taskforce are about now protesting the non-payment by the federal government of Nigeria of their outstanding salaries for more than three years in Lagos, south-west Nigeria.
The protest, sources disclosed is taking place at the Kuwait football field, located at Gowon estate in Lagos, where the protesters dressed in their black tee-shirts are said to have barricaded all entrance and exist route at the estate.
It could be recalled that July this year, thousands of Nigerian graduates recruited under the auspices of Federal Roads Maintenance Agency and Subsidy Re-investment Programme (FERMA/SURE-P), accused chieftains of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP)- Chief Olabode George and Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe of extortions.
Other
officials who were listed in their protest letter are the National
Coordinator/Commandant Mr Adulrasak Rafiu, Mr Dan Silva and Mrs Oluremi Adeniji.
However, our correspondent gathered that in addition to the non-payment of salaries, the protesters are also calling of the Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government to ensure that a conducive environment for the officials, who have allegedly being used and dumped by past government officials in the country.
One of the taskforce officials lamented that in the last three years, they have not received their salaries and allowances from the federal government and they want the world to know about their plight.
