The police
in Lagos, south-west Nigeria, is presently tackling a total of 38 murder cases, even as tension is
mounting by the day these ember months, as criminalities seem to be on the
increase across Nigeria.
Fatia Owoseni, Lagos police chief told
journalists point-blank on Thursday at the command headquarters in Ikeja, Lagos,
that for the month of September, 17 murder cases were officially brought to the
notice of the police, while the law enforcement agent recorded 21 murder cases
in October.
However, 70
suspected armed robbers were arrested, with seven of them identified by the
police as traffics robbers, while a total of seven suspected robbers were
gunned down during a bloody encounter with anti-robbery police officers at various
commands across the state.
Number of ammunition
recovered from the robbers in two months were recorded as 706, while 2 suspected
kidnappers were arrested, and 31 suspected cultists, arrested when police
officers raided Agege, Somolu, Mushin, Fadeyi, Jibowu, Bariga, and Ojuealegba,
among other cult-prone areas in Lagos are presently in police net.
Police
officers from Festac Police Division in Lagos with Monday Agbonikan as divisional police officer did a good job during
the week as frustrated the moves by some suspected oil thieves to whisked away
stolen crude oil out of the area.
