Governor
of Lagos state, south west Nigeria, Akinwunmi Ambode has revealed plans to
light up 67 villages that has been without electricity for many years in lekki
area of Lagos. The Governor is also planning to light up the stretch of road
from Ikorodu to Lagos Island, and from Berger to Lagos Island under phase one
and two.
Addressing
news men at news conference at the Bagauda Kaltho press centre, Ikeja, Lagos,
yesterday, the senior special assistant to the Governor on energy, Deji
Williams, said the governor had given a prouncement that the aforementioned
road should be lit up
He
noted that most of the streetlights would be linked to the exiting independent
power projects (IPP) to reduce the operational expenses, averring that each of
the poles would be affixed with 250 watts.
He
further made it know that jobs will be created for the people following the
fact that private sectors would involved in the maintenance of the
streetlights, adding that the Gani Fawehinmi and MKO parks would be brightened.
