Darlington Ajitemisan is a self-confessed pastor. He is
the founder of Open Channels Bible
Church, located at Gowon Estate in Lagos, south-west Nigeria.
However,
Ajitemisan, whose mental health may be in doubt, said some police officers, fully armed
from Gowon Estate Police Station, last
week stormed his church, which also serve as his residence and allegedly
attempted to kill him.
His words: I had to jump the fence of
my church and ran off all the way to Egbeda bus-stop in Lagos to escape being
killed by the police.
He insisted
that the managing director of Rosellas
Amusement Park in Lagos allegedly used the police to set him up in order to
forcefully evict him from his land and his church.
However,
independent investigations conducted by our correspondent revealed that the
Rosellas Amusement Park boss has gone through due process to acquire the land
at Kuwait, a notorious area within the
estate, which he is planning to build sporting and recreational facilities.
This,
residents of the estate said is in agreement with the original master plans for
the estate, which was approved by the federal
housing authority of Nigeria.
But, Ajitemisan,
who is busy abusing the divisional police officer of Gowon Estate police
station, Area M police commander and Kayode
Aderanti, the Lagos state police commissioner, failed to show documented
evidences as proof that most of the churches at the estate acquired their land
legally.
Police authorities
in Lagos, when contacted confirmed that they are aware of the issue and are
making efforts to resolve it amicably.
