They made these assertions after rising from a meeting of
stakeholders during the week in Lagos
According to the President, Mr. Leonard Ogbonna, the group
consists of highly vibrant, proactive and intelligent persons who are sincerely
committed to the development and progress of Igbo land in particular and
Nigeria in general and therefore called on Nigerians and the Igbo-speaking
communities in Lagos State, to participate fully in the 2015 general elections,
urging Nigerians to trust the ability of government to conduct credible polls.
Addressing over 58 market associations at the trade fair complex
during the market summit and voters’ sensitization education organised by the
group, on the importance of voting for credible candidates in 2015, Leonard
stressed that the programme became necessary so as to stress the need for
members to participate actively in the current democratic dispensation.
Expatiating further, he said Government policies play a major role
in regulating business environment; therefore the members have resolved to be
part of the election process even as he emphasize the dire need to create a
synergy among the over 58 major market associations among Igbo professionals in
Lagos
Ndigbo Amaka Lagos according to him, was formed as an
organization that would champion the articulation and promotion of the good
ideals of the society stressing that the group are committed to the
comprehensive and beneficial articulation and promotion of the opinions,
aspirations and strategies of the Igbo man in the larger Nigerian community.
In pursuit of this core objective, Leonard said he seeks the
collaboration of well meaning persons and organizations emphasizing that the
group is always prepared to deploy their structure for the optimal realization
of mutual benefits and this
“we have been doing from inception”.
On the choice of President as canvassed by the group, Leonard said
the Ndigbo Amaka Lagos, strongly believes that President Goodluck Jonathan is
the right leader at this moment stressing that he has demonstrated his ability
to deliver economic and social development since taking office in May 2010.
