    By Matthew Aramunde,Lagos

Ndigbo Amaka  a socio-political group of all Igbos from the Southeast Geopolitical zone  resident in Lagos State who say that they are unrepentantly and deeply committed to the promotion and realization of the interest of the Igbo Nation in particular and Nigeria in general, have thrown their weight behind President  Goodluck Jonathan.

They made these assertions after rising from a meeting of stakeholders during the week in Lagos

According to the President, Mr. Leonard Ogbonna, the group consists of highly vibrant, proactive and intelligent persons who are sincerely committed to the development and progress of Igbo land in particular and Nigeria in general and therefore called on Nigerians and the Igbo-speaking communities in Lagos State, to participate fully in the 2015 general elections, urging Nigerians to trust the ability of government to conduct credible polls.

Addressing over 58 market associations at the trade fair complex during the market summit and voters’ sensitization education organised by the group, on the importance of voting for credible candidates in 2015, Leonard stressed that the programme became necessary so as to stress the need for members to participate actively in the current democratic dispensation.

Expatiating further, he said Government policies play a major role in regulating business environment; therefore the members have resolved to be part of the election process even as he emphasize the dire need to create a synergy among the over 58 major market associations among Igbo professionals in Lagos

Ndigbo Amaka Lagos according to him, was formed as an organization that would champion the articulation and promotion of the good ideals of the society stressing that the group are committed to the comprehensive and beneficial articulation and promotion of the opinions, aspirations and strategies of the Igbo man in the larger Nigerian community.

In pursuit of this core objective, Leonard said he  seeks the collaboration of well meaning persons and organizations emphasizing that the group is always prepared to deploy their structure for the optimal realization of mutual benefits and this

“we have been doing from inception”.
On the choice of President as canvassed by the group, Leonard said the Ndigbo Amaka Lagos, strongly believes that President Goodluck Jonathan is the right leader at this moment stressing that he has demonstrated his ability to deliver economic and social development since taking office in May 2010. “Nigeria is being transformed at an unprecedented pace under his able leaders” it noted
